Hetty McCarthy

Hetty works as a gigging musician in various bands, playing in a variety of venues. She started out in hip hop band Orchestra of Strangers then played guitar and sang backing vocals in indie pop duo Rainmaker. Tracks from their EP gained airplay across the UK through the BBC Introducing platform. In 2015 she auditioned  for Sony Music as part of Louis Tomlinson’s Be in the Band project. Hetty has been teaching guitar privately for seven years. She also helps students write and record their own songs. She was a trainee tutor with Grimsby Jazz for a series of improvisation workshops funded through Youth Music, and as part of the project she received tuition in sound engineering at a professional studio. In 2013 she joined the Riverhead Producers, a team of young events organisers supported by Lincolnshire One Venues. They created and promoted events for young people aged 12-25. Through this she gained experience in sound engineering, stage managing, PR and design. She has since worked at other Lincolnshire One Venues events as a sound engineer and workshop leader. Hetty worked with La Luna Projects in 2017, recording vocals for A Fish Tale and A Woodland Story. More recently she joined Josie Moon, Pat McCarthy and Matt Gray in delivering songwriting workshops based around  transition from primary to secondary school. Other work for La Luna includes regular sessions at Humberston Park Special School. Hetty will work as a musician and workshop leader in this project.
