Pat McCarthy
Project Leader for Grimsby Jazz Projects, Pat is regarded as one of the country's leading jazz guitar players. He is also a composer and educator with extremely good communication skills with adults and children and has a proven record in leading workshops. He is a skilled sound engineer with extensive experience of recording and mastering work.
Pat is adept at matching the depth and musical intricacies of his compositions to the audience for which he is writing. School workshops and performances are brought to life, as he is able to compose both music and words sympathetically for the age and ability of the children involved. He has composed music for themed stories written by Josie Moon, and also for the many improvisational workshops he has led, including the Youth Music Swing Band and Lisa Oliver's Steel Drum Band ‘Steel the Rhythm'. He has also written and recorded music for The Pat McCarthy Quartet, The Shannon Reilly Band, The Alan Barnes Octet (Fish Tales) amongst others, plus music for TV and film. His compositions have been played as far afield as New York and Japan.
